It allows you to connect an aftermarket radio to your factory wiring harness and retain the use of your steering wheel controls. It also provides accessory power retains chimes R.A.P. (retained accessory power). When replacing the OEM radio with an aftermarket radio some feature are lost. With this interface most of those features are retained.
