DrainDome is a patented cover for outdoor basement stairwell drains that keeps fall leaves, pine needles, and debris from sealing off your drain and sending water under your basement door. WHAT IT REPLACES: DrainDome replaces the small, flat D-shaped grate found on most standard 4-inch outdoor basement stairwell and door threshold drains. It is not designed for indoor floor drains, showers, tubs, or sinks. CHECK YOUR SPACE: DrainDome is 11.75 inches wide and 1.5 inches tall, much larger than the grate it replaces. You will need about a 12-inch flat concrete area around your drain. Please measure before ordering. HOW IT WORKS: A flat grate can be sealed by just a few wet leaves. DrainDome’s raised dome gives your drain 8.5 times the surface area, so water keeps flowing even when leaves pile up around it. HOW IT INSTALLS: Lift off your old grate, attach the patented stay-in-place stem to the dome with the included screw, and slide the stem down into the drain pipe until the cover rests on the concrete. Most installations take about 5 minutes with no special tools. The stem fits most residential stairwell drains. If yours does not accept the stem, or your concrete is uneven or sloped, use the four built-in screw holes to mount the cover with masonry screws or construction adhesive. Full instructions are at draindome.com. BUILT TO LAST: DrainDome is made in the USA from gray, impact-resistant, UV-resistant polycarbonate that stands up to foot traffic, sun, and weather. At 1.5 inches tall, most basement and storm doors swing right over it. DrainDome greatly improves drainage at your basement entry, but it cannot solve every water intrusion problem, such as groundwater seepage or a drain pipe that is blocked further down.
